The All of It

by Jeannette Haien

We normally skip December because of the busy holiday season but someone suggested the idea of meeting just to have dinner. We all liked this idea, and then someone else told us about a very short read that she really enjoyed, so we decided to read The All of It. It is a quick read and hard to put down once you get started. One comment in the group was, "The author writes so beautifully and it has such rich dense sentences... absolutely loved it." Another was, "I enjoyed it. It was a quick read and kept my interest."

We met at Arella Pizzeria in Bountiful this month. Everyone enjoyed the gourmet pizza. Some comments were, "The food was great." and "The Arella pizza is the best."

Death of a Turkey

by Kate Borden

This murder mystery was a quick, light read that most of us found to be quite entertaining. A fun book, it got us into the Thanksgiving spirit and we all appreciated its brevity during a time when we are busy with the Thanksgiving holiday and its preparations.

Our venue this month was Eatery 1025, a new restaurant in Bountiful that we enjoyed tremendously. Their menu is simple with a focus on quality instead of quantity. Their goal of using fresh, local ingredients contributes to the quality. Everyone enjoyed their meal and we had enough room to share a flourless chocolate torte for dessert which was heaven on a plate for us chocolate lovers.

Major Pettigrew's Last Stand

by Helen Simonson

Last month we journeyed to England with Major Pettigrew, a book enjoyed by all. Our meeting spot was Royal India on Main Street in Bountiful. It was so delicious that the food almost overshadowed the book discussion!
